3 great events during September hosted by the La Trobe Psych Club…
In conjunction with R U OK? Day, which aims to tackle suicide and the stigma associated with suicide, the Psych Society will be running a safeTALK workshop.
safeTALK is a half-day alertness workshop that prepares anyone over the age of 15 to become “suicide-alert helpers”, regardless of prior experience or training. The workshop trains helpers to recognise signs that someone may be reaching out for help to stay alive, and to take action by connecting these individuals with life-saving intervention resources.
The safeTALK workshop involves presentations and guidance from a registered trainer from LivingWorks Asutralia, powerful audiovisual learning aids, and hands-on skills practice and development. It has been designed to complement the two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) program. You can find out more about the workshop here, or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
10am till 1.30pm – Bundoora Campus – Room TBC
The workshop is limited to 30 places and tickets are available for $15.87 via eventbrite so get in quick!
