This year there is so much to check out at the La Trobe Pride festival between 21-28th March!
The theme this year is ‘Community through Diversity‘.
Celebrating the diversity of queer/LGBTIQ+ and how this strengthens a vibrant and nurturing community.
There are several events for us to get to, importantly Pride Day in the Agora on Tuesday 27th March where we can celebrate our LGBTIQ+ community on campus with music, stalls, food (who doesn’t love fairy bread?) and JOY Radio interviewing and broadcasting live from 11-2PM.
Register early for the key event ‘In conversation with Imam Nur Warsame’ who is Australia’s first openly gay Imam who has been on SBS discussing how “reconciling spirituality with sexuality is a very difficult journey”. He will be supported by Dr Carolyn D’Cruz and Professor Helen Lee with Dr Timothy Jones as MC. They will be speaking about the diversity and interfaith issues of LGBTIQ+ people and how diversity strengthens our community. It will be held in the Odeon, Wednesday 28th March 1-2PM.
