If you are reading this, you are just in time to apply for exchange! La Trobe Abroad has just extended the application deadline for part 1 of the process from 17 of November to 1 of December. So now you have time to finish exams, gather your paperwork and apply for 2017 Outbound Exchange. Exchange is one of the best things you can do with your time at uni! Travelling while getting credits towards your degree, what could be better than that?!
La Trobe is a very global uni and has over 150 exchange partners all over the world, so there are plenty of options to choose from. Whether it’s the Americas, Asia, Europe or Africa, there’s an adventure waiting for you. Also, both domestic and international students are eligible for exchange! You pay your normal tuition fees asyou would at La Trobe, and you can get grants to help you deal with the costs. There’s really no excuse not to do it! Studying overseas really brings lot of advantages and experiences.
Do I need to say more? Travelling and getting to know new cultures is one of the coolest things that we can do with our lives. Spending some time abroad will widen your horizons and give you a different perspective of other countries and cultures. You might even learn a new language, who knows?!

Exchange will definitely make you gain new skills and help you become more independent. Living by yourself in another country is not an easy task and you’ll definitely learn a lot! Also, you’ll probably be facing a new education system different to the one you’re used to. You’ll learn how to solve problems quickly and gain a broader general knowledge of the world.

We all want to get jobs when we finish uni, that’s the whole point right? Going overseas for a semester or a year will definitely boost your resume! The skills such as adaptability, networking, problem solving and languages that you learn abroad are all valuable to many employers.

Exchange will probably be one of the best times of your life and you’ll meet a lot of people on the way. Going abroad is an excellent opportunity to meet new people from different cultures, specially if you are going to live in uni residence. You’ll become friends with everyone very very quickly, and it’s cool to have friends all over the world isn’t it?
