I’m sorry I was MIA last week but Week 10 was not my friend. I had four assignments due and three on the same day. I’m guessing a lot of you are feeling the same from all the posts on StalkerSpace! Luckily, the uni and Student Union have teamed up to help us recharge our batteries and look after our health as we get to the pointy end of the semester!
Here is a list of activities planned to help us relax!
Monday 16th May
If my memes just aren’t funny anymore, free laughter sessions will from held on 12-2 pm in the Agora. As the saying goes, laughter is the best medicine so get on board!
Tuesday 17th May
Instead of dragging yourself to the library for hours, take a break at the stress-less carnival. It will be held from 12-2 pm on the Simpson lawn. There will be cuddly animals, beanbags and free food!
come get a cuddle from a little guy like this!
A FREE Stress Less Workshop will be held today from 10-11 am in TLC 311! The tricks learnt can be put into practice during SWOTVAC and exams when our stress levels will be reaching new heights. Bookings for this event can be made by calling counselling reception on (03) 9479 2956.
What comes to your head when you think of relaxing? Yoga and pilates of course! The LTU sports centre will be hosting FREE yoga classes from 11am-12pm and FREE pilates classes from 2-3pm. You can book by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org but class sizes are limited, so get in quick!
A FREE Strategies for Exam Success workshop will be held from 1:30-3pm in TLC 214. If you want some more tips on learning strategies and maximising your effectiveness, I would suggest heading along!
Wednesday 18th May
The Union holds a breakfast club every week for its members. However, this week there is a FREE breakfast open to all students. Why spend $25 on a fancy brunch at a busy café with a waiter who has a beard to rival Leo’s in The Revenant? Come down to the Agora from 9am-12pm for some food!
beard game on point.
A FREE Mindfulness workshop will be held from 10-11am in TLC Rm 311. The session will teach us stressed SHE students how to chill out and increase our well being. I know some SHE students might be sceptical about the benefits of mindfulness…this was what my biochemist best friend said but now she swears by it! Don’t bag it ’till you’ve tried it! Bookings for this event can be made by calling counselling reception on (03) 9479 2956.

Finally, there will be a FREE film and panel event from 4:45-8pm in rm ELT2. You can come relax and watch the award-winning ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. It’s got a great message and its two main actors are defs easy on the eyes. Before the 6pm movie, there will be a Q & A panel talking about the myths and facts of mental health. The guest speakers will be from HeadSpace, BeyondBlue and our very own Student Union. This is a not to be missed event, so get your tickets via https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/panel-event-mental-health-myths-and-facts-followed-by-silver-linings-playbook-movie-tickets-25185909734
